How to plan your arrival on Hamilton Island
We’re excited about your upcoming visit to Hamilton Island. Here is some information about checking-in and checking-out of your Hamilton Island Holiday Home.
Check-in time: 2.00pm
Check-out time: 10.00am
Before you arrive
Please let us know how and when you will be arriving, so we can arrange to meet you, and ensure your holiday home is ready.
Please ensure your luggage is clearly labelled. Depending on the size of your group, we may need to have porters help you with transporting your luggage to your home.
If you’re arriving before 2.00pm, we recommend packing a towel and change of clothes/bathers in your hand luggage so you can slip into holiday mode straight away. Please note that beach towels will only be provided when you check-in. Lockers, change rooms and showers are available at the Resort Centre on the Beach side of the Island and also located in the Marina behind the Bakery.
To avoid disappointment, we also highly recommend pre-booking as many activities and restaurants as you can before your stay.
Where and how to check-in
If you’re arriving by plane:
If arriving by plane, you will be met at the airport by a member of the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes team holding a sign with your name, from here you will be directed to our Front Office conveniently located at the airport for check-in. We will give you an overview of the island, but if you have any special questions about the island or your holiday home, just let us know.
If you’re arriving by Cruise Whitsundays Ferry:
If arriving by the Cruise Whitsundays Ferry, you will be met at the Hamilton Island Marina by a member of the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes team holding a sign with your name, and transferred via minibus or a buggy to our front office. We will give you an overview of the island, but if you have any special questions about the island or your holiday home, just let us know.
Please be sure to provide the correct details for your arrival ferry when making your reservation. If these times change at all please be sure to contact Holiday Homes so that the transfer can be adjusted appropriately.
If you’re arriving by private yacht/boat:
If arriving by a private yacht, please notify our team of your arrival time. You will then be met at the Hamilton Island Marina by a member of the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes team, and transferred via minibus or a buggy to our front office. Please be sure to have your luggage waiting at the arm of your yacht so porters can transfer it easily.
If you’re staying at the Yacht Club Villas:
You will be met by a staff member from the Yacht Club Villas at either the airport or marina, and escorted to your villa where you can check-in. Everything you require for check-in is waiting for you inside your villa (your registration card and buggy contract, room keys, buggy keys, a welcome letter, restaurant list, activity guide, island map outlining the walking trails and bus timetables). If your villa isn’t ready when you arrive, you can be transferred anywhere you like on the island. We will then collect you when your villa is ready for check-in.
How to find your home
You will be given a map that highlights the way to your holiday property, along with your keys.
Where and how to collect your buggy
A 4-seater buggy is included with every Hamilton Island Holiday Home (except the Whitsunday Apartments).
You can collect your buggy at the airport on arrival. If you arrive by boat, you can get a transfer to the airport where you can collect your buggy. You will be given an overview of the rules and regulations, and demonstration of the relevant safety issues. A condition report will also be performed. You will then need to sign a registration form and provide a credit card for security (with a nominal charge of $1) before you get the key. All buggies require drivers to have a current full driver’s licence. Don’t forget to ask about insurance options.
Where and how to check-out
For your convenience, a member of the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes team will arrive to collect your luggage from 8.00 am - 10.00am, depending on your departure details, on the day you are checking-out. So please ensure your luggage is packed at the front door.
If you are departing by flight, your luggage will be securely stored at our reception desk located at the airport. If you are departing by Cruise Whitsunday Ferry, your luggage will be stored at the Cruise Whitsunday reception located in the marina.
For all ferry departures, guests are asked to return your buggy back to the airport (at least 30 minutes prior to your ferry departure) where you will be given a transfer to the Marina.
If you’re departing the Yacht Club Villas:
A member of the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes team will arrive to collect your luggage from 8.00am - 10.00am depending on your departure details. Please advise us of your flight departure time when you arrive. You are free to use your buggy for up to an hour before your flight or ferry leaves. If you are departing by ferry and wish to return your buggy to the airport, we can also transfer you to the marina from the airport.
You must be checked out by 10.00am, and your property’s keys and buggy must be returned to the Hamilton Island Holiday Homes front desk by this time.
The property must be clean and tidy upon check-out. Please take the rubbish out, ensure all dishes are washed, and don’t leave any food or rubbish in the property. An additional cleaning charge will be applicable for any extra cleaning that is required.
Is there a late check-out option?
Late checkouts are subject to availability and fees apply.
