Commercial flights

The only island in the Whitsundays with its own commercial airport, Hamilton Island services over 40 daily direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns with Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar.

Private flights

For the ultimate in luxury and convenience, private planes and helicopters can also land at the Hamilton Island Airport. Regional charter flights can be organised from Mackay, Proserpine and Airlie Beach.

Hamilton Island Air

Hamilton Island Air will be offering air transfers from Whitsunday Coast Airport (Proserpine) and Whitsunday Airport (Shute Harbour) direct to Hamilton Island. For more information please visit the Hamilton Island Air website.

Cruise Whitsundays ferry transfers

Cruise Whitsundays offers a ferry service that connects Hamilton Island and Airlie Beach. View the ferry timetable. Note, all holiday homes guests are required to embark and disembark at the airport terminal.

Bus, car and train

The 1,100km drive north from Brisbane to Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour, where the ferries depart, takes around 12 hours non-stop. Long-term parking is available at the Shute Harbour and Port of Airlie terminals.

Private boats

Yachties sailing to Hamilton Island will find a welcoming berth at the Hamilton Island Marina, which provides extensive boatyard services including quality provisioning, fuel supply, full chandlery and more.

Once on the island, you have countless ways to explore the island:

On foot

Walking is one of the best ways to explore the island and take in the magnificent scenery. There are plenty of walking tracks around the island you can take advantage of.

Golf buggy

Every Hamilton Island Holiday Home comes with a 4-seater golf buggy (max. 4 people per buggy) for your exclusive use. There are also plenty of spots around the island where you can re-charge.

Island Shuttle Service

A complimentary bus service operates every day, from 7.00am until 11.00pm (subject to change) along three selected routes. Simply hop on and off to explore the island’s key attractions.
