January to March

With school holidays in January, this is always a popular time to reserve a Hamilton Island Holiday Home, as the island also offers plenty of great activities for little ones. If you’re looking for a couples’ escape, February and March are a little quieter. This is a tropical time of year in Queensland and it’s not unusual to have showers during the day. However, most days are sunny and hot.
April to June
Average temperature: 24C.
People who live here say this is the best time to visit. The weather ranges from mild to warm, with less daily showers and lots of days with crisp, clear blue skies. During Easter and school holidays, the island offers plenty of family-friendly activities. May and June is ideal for couples, honeymooners, special occasion groups, conferences and weddings, as the everyday weather temperatures are less variable. June is an official winter month, so evenings are cooler and there can be rain and strong breezes, but the days are often clear and blue and it’s certainly not like the winter you get in Australia’s southern states.
July to September
Average temperature: 23C.
Weather in this season is mild to warm, with some rain showers. It gets sunny, but not too hot. School holidays are in July, and this is often a busy but enjoyable month. Spring starts early in Queensland and in August we have clear, beautiful breezy weather. This is a great time for sailing, and is when we hold our famous offshore sailing regatta, Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. It’s another ideal time for weddings, conferences and special occasion groups.
October to December
Average temperature: 28C.
This is the most popular time of year for both couples and families. The weather is typically beautifully warm and sunny. As soon as the warmer weather hits, the chances of showers can increase - however they are usually short and quick, and make way for clear and sunny skies. December is a fun month and there are often great festive season celebrations planned around the island.
